the End or the Beginning?

Well, with the end of summer comes the end of the Seasonal flight of United Airlines into Fairbanks. I've been working since June doing fleet services for United. We handle wheelchairs, gate checks and cleaning the plane after it lands. I've had many late nights because their flight is scheduled to arrive at 1106pm. But that changed frequently. :) Sometimes they didn't come in till after 1am.

The late nights made for a large lack of sleep, but ultimately I'm glad I worked this second job.
Not just because of the money either. I made some good friends, met some interesting people and learned a lot about airport procedures. And another cool thing was that this traveler who loves airports, I got to see the part of an airport where everything happens!
I also experienced many random things. Before this summer, I had no idea how exciting life at the airport was. :) Medical emergencies, arrests, lost bags, very random people.
Now we are at the end of the season....

our small group, minus Michael and Jackie
but is it really the end? or just the beginning?
Many of the people I met and became friends with this summer, I plan on staying in touch with.
And the coolest thing about the entire season?
A co-worker has been coming to church with me
and last Sunday he trusted in Jesus for salvation!!!!
That totally makes all the late nights, craziness and drama of the season worth it!
and I pray he is not the only one. :)

The last flight was bittersweet. I am really glad I'll be getting more sleep now. :) but some of the people I worked with I won't see very often, if ever. It was a good summer.
I've never liked change, but many times it is a good thing.....
Now the next thing I'm looking forward to is......
ASIA!
sooner than you may think!!! :)

Enjoying the end of Summer

Summer is almost over.
At least here in Alaska it is. Days have still been in the 60s, but at night it's been quite cool. My sisters went blueberry picking last week. So, last Saturday, we decided to make yummy waffles and top them off with wild Alaskan blueberries freshly picked and powered sugar.
Now for those of you who have never had Alaskan blueberries - you are missing out!
Store bought blueberries are very bland compared to those found in our wilderness.

The next Saturday was another beautiful day. So, we decided to take advantage of the day and of my coworkers offer of his 4-wheelers. We went out for about 2 hours and it was awesome!
Just the 3 of us girls. We laughed and laughed!

love the faces!

uh, yeah not a good thing

And to finish off the great day, we had huge rib eye steaks to grill! Man, they were delicious!
We may be girls, but you can't beat meat and potatoes for dinner! ;)

Goodbye Caleb

Life is full of goodbyes.
I don't know of anyone who likes them. And the more people you know - sadly, the more goodbyes you have make. That is one reason I am looking forward to heaven! One day, I will be together with all my friends in ONE place! Friends from Mongolia, Alaska, Oklahoma, Africa, Lithuania and all points in between will be gathered around the throne of God.
Won't that be an amazing time!?
Will YOU be there?

This past Monday I said goodbye to another good friend.

Caleb grew up in my church, but we didn't really know each other well until I became his Bus Captain a couple years ago. He has since become a good friend.

Caleb and his family are missionaries in Malawi, Africa. They came home this summer for two months for family events. We enjoyed having them here.

part of the Soda bunch - Mt. Dew & Dr. Pepper couldn't make it. :)

I'm going to miss you Caleb!
I'll be praying for you as your serve the Lord with your family in Africa!

God Delights in Me!

When was the last time you were amazed that the Creator God who holds this world together,
Who provided a way of escape for eternal condemnation,
Who thoughts and ways are SO far above ours,
LOVES you!
and DELIGHTS in you!

This past year I've been trying to focus more on my Saviour.
This truth that God delights in me still amazes me every time I think of it!

"He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me."
II Samuel 22:20

Not only does God delight in me, but He also has accepted me as one of His own! Only by His grace.

"To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."
Ephesians 1:6

I challenge you this next couple days -
take some time and just meditate on the Lord and what He has done in your life.
He has truly changed my life and I owe all to Him.
When was the last time you thanked Him for what He's done in your life?
